Currently Watching - Beck: Mongolian Chop Squad
"I was made to hit in America"
These are probably the most memorable words from a song that I listened to during my college days. The Anime "Beck: Mongolian Chop Squad" is an amazing anime with equally amazing music. It is full of so many catchy tunes that really make you excited to hear the next new track. I think that one of my favorites so far is "Follow Me", which in the anime is said to have been originally sung by The Rocket Boys. I cant seem to find anything one them so I'm not too sure if this is just a fictional group for the anime. Either way, it is a good song. On the other hand, there is a lot of mention of real musical acts like The Red Hot Chilli Peppers, The Rolling Stones, and many more.

Gamer Friday: Mortal Kombat Trilogy Made Me A Gamer
I am a very competitive gamer, Draco can tell you that I enjoy multiplayer games. This game is the first game to bring the competitive side of me. Even though there was no online gaming, I used to play against my family and friends and things got intense. There is nothing like beating someone in a game and they are sitting right next to you, the teasing, the trash talking, and sore losers crying is what gaming with people is all about. That is what really sealed in the game for me, the foundation of my gamer life.

Gamer Friday - I Built this Dynasty with Zhao Yun's Spear!!!
So, Ranz asked me to take over Gamer Friday for him this week. I think this effectively breaks my posting dry spell. As with the most recent group post, this game got my vote for one of the best on current gen consoles. I've spent many nights playing this on my PS3 for hours on end. So without further ado, one game series that I've followed over the years is Dynasty Warriors. One of the latest games in the series is Dynasty Warriors 7, which I will be reviewing. This series has a great fan following which has made it the best selling title by its maker, Koei. At first glance, one would think of this as just a retelling of previous titles in the series, but after playing it I have come to think otherwise. In fact, I believe that this title is one of the best in the series.
Before getting into a review of the game, I feel that it is important to touch on some background information. This game series has been loosely based on the Chinese classic, “Romance of the Three Kingdoms”. Each game takes place during the times of chaos described in this story which features many different heroes and leaders that fought for peace and justice during the fall of the Han Dynasty and the events that followed. The series itself is a spinoff of the turn based strategy game Romance of the Three Kingdoms. The first game in the series was actually a fighting game, which later became a hack and slash game with many strategic elements. This series has gained much success and has even spawned numerous of its own spinoffs. With this being said, the latest installment Dynasty Warriors 7 has a long history to live up to.
The first thing that stands out about this game is the different modes and features that are offered. Many of the features are not new, but are redefined to present a new spin on a story that has been retold for the past six games. The most enjoyable part of this game is the story mode. It employs beautiful graphics, and great story telling to leave the player feeling fully immersed in the game. The story mode features four different factions that each has their own unique storyline which is based on the previously mentioned Chinese classic. The story takes players from the days of rebellion that initially lead to the Thee Kingdoms Era, all the way to the unification of China. This is done through letting players fight as and alongside heroes and leaders mentioned in the book.

Upon purchasing this game, I was reluctant to play it as I thought that I was paying for the same product with flashier graphics. I was very much mistaken. The quality of this game really stood out. Though the story is pretty much the same as in previous titles, the originality of how it was presented gave a feeling that I was experiencing a work of art. The cinematic scenes were both beautiful and well scripted. The game play was impressive as it took elements of older games in the series and refined them to give players a fresh spin on things through the use of in battle special events. This creates a feeling of excitement to conquer the challenges of every level.
In closing, I believe that this title exceeded my expectations of what it would have to offer. What I expected to be a cut and paste rehashed game, took me on an entertaining ride through a retelling of the fall of the Han Dynasty of China. The story mode can only be described as artistic and left me with a desire to continue reading the actual book that it was based on. The different game modes also add to the longevity of the gaming experience. As a fan of the Romance of the Three Kingdoms book, I believe that this game did a great job of following the story more closely than its predecessors.

OJN Discussion: Best Games on the Current Generation Consoles
Welcome to the first OJN discussion collaboration
So guys first question, what game surprised you this generation?

Out of all the series of games that debuted and continued along the many years of this generation, which one is your favorite?

So out of everything that's been going on in the last month after E3 do you guys think Nintendo has a chance in the next gen console war?
R - Why yes, Nintendo has a chance to pull out AT LEAST in second place this time around. The have a decent price point, some pretty sweet exclusives, and they aren’t all DRM with it like Xbox started out with. They’re going to be way behind in terms of what Sony and the PS4 are trying to dish out, but I know the 3DS is going to crush the Vita if its not already doing so.
In your opinion, what is the best game of this generation?
1) Though I am not the biggest gamer, I do enjoy a good game every now and then. This game has by far kept me occupied for hours on end with tales of good vs evil and how it is all a matter of perspective. A player can find themselves identifying with so many different characters.
2) Dragonball Z Tenkaichi 2 was last gen lmao
3) Zhao Yun can fight off an entire army while sliding down a waterfall with a baby strapped to his back...AND STILL PWNS ALL
Yup, this game pulled me from my PC long enough to have Lokita notice that I “play this all the time”, and for good reason. I am absolutely fascinated by the stories of the 3 kingdom period of China, and this game told the story so well that my 4 volume collection of Romance of the Three Kingdoms will still collect dust while waiting to be read. I mean...why read when a game is doing it for you? I joke, but seriously lol.
Hoped you enjoyed the first OJN discussion. Let us know what you think.

~Fight for your food!~
In the last podcast we we went over our personal top 5 action anime. In
doing so our guest host JF Crazy brought to my attention an anime by the
name of "Ben-to".I have only watch but 4 episodes and i have to say
that I am hooked! Its in my favorite format of 12eps so its not overly
long, but i hope it doesnt leave me wanting more at the end of it all.
The basic summary is that there are a bunch of stores that sell half
priced bentos at a certain time,at that particular time all hell breaks
loose and the free for all battle for the food begins.I have to say even
thought I have only watched only so much of it,so far i would recommend Ben-to to anyone who like the Action/school life genre of anime.
